Roadrunners Right Wing Justin Aikins took home multiple awards Sunday, March 18th at the Phoenix Roadrunners Booster Club’s Annual Awards Banquet. As voted on by the Roadrunners players themselves, Aikins received the “Most Valuable Forward” and “Most Valuable Player” awards.
In other voting by the team, Brock Hooton received the “Rookie of the Year” award, Jeff Kyrzakos the “Hustle Award”, and Dusty Demianiuk the “Defenseman of the Year Award”.
Right Wing Tommy Maxwell received the “Booster Club Fan Favorite Award”. With voting by the Booster Club members and fans, Maxwell won by a 3-to-1 margin.
Per Club tradition, “gag” awards were presented, with Cody Rudkowsly picking up the “Golden Glove Award”, recognizing the knock-out victory in his firstever hockey fight. On the IR and absent from the ice for most of the year, Defenseman Brian Yandle received the “Have You Seen Me” milk carton. With a jab at his social schedule, Tommy Maxwell was awarded with the “8:30” award.
Several people deserve recognition for their hard work in bringing this event together. Committee chair Andy Connors would like to thank members Wanda Glover, Kim Smylie, Dayna Smith, Dena Lacroix, the Orr family, and the Rhoades family. Bill Fagan from the Roadrunners and Leslie Criger from Cooper’stown also deserve a big “thanks” for their helping in making this event such a success!
